📖 Static demo — read-only snapshot
You’re browsing a static build of the Body IQ knowledge graph, so everything loads with no backend. A few things that need the live server are turned off here:
- Global search (sidebar) is disabled — it queries the API.
- The JSON API and the API “Try it” playgroundaren’t included.
- The data is a snapshot — it refreshes only when the demo is rebuilt, not live from the database.
Everything else — the body map, progression ladders, coverage heatmap, exercise finder, and all anatomy/exercise/source pages — works fully. The full app (live search + API + database) runs from the source on GitHub.
Pelvic Floor Quick Flicks (Power Contractions)
Positions & Range of Motion
- Start
- supine, knees bent, feet flat, pelvic floor and abdomen relaxed
- End
- maximal pelvic floor contraction held 1–2 s then fully released, repeated rapidly with complete relaxation between reps
- Range of Motion
- isometric pelvic floor contraction — no visible joint movement; rapid on/off internal muscle excursion
How to Perform
Rapid maximal pelvic floor contractions held 1–2 seconds each. Targets Type II fast-twitch fibers needed for cough/sneeze/laugh continence. Perform after each sustained-hold set.

Coaching Cues
- 1
Fast in, fast out — full relaxation between reps
(verbal) - 2
If you fatigue and the contraction weakens, stop the set — quality over quantity
(verbal)
Evidence-Based Dosing & EMG Data
10 rapid reps after each set of sustained Kegels.
Muscles Involved (2)
Stabilizers
Synergists & Assistors
Easier Variations ↓
Submaximal Quick Flicks
50% intensity first to learn the rhythm.
Harder Variations ↑
Quick Flicks in Standing
Same drill standing.
Research Notes
Audience: postpartum, perimenopausal, general conditioning. Correct execution = brief visible perineal 'wink' without thigh adductor or gluteal co-contraction. If user bears down instead of lifting, the pattern is reversed (Valsalva).
