📖 Static demo — read-only snapshot
You’re browsing a static build of the Body IQ knowledge graph, so everything loads with no backend. A few things that need the live server are turned off here:
- Global search (sidebar) is disabled — it queries the API.
- The JSON API and the API “Try it” playgroundaren’t included.
- The data is a snapshot — it refreshes only when the demo is rebuilt, not live from the database.
Everything else — the body map, progression ladders, coverage heatmap, exercise finder, and all anatomy/exercise/source pages — works fully. The full app (live search + API + database) runs from the source on GitHub.
Transversus Abdominis
Deepest abdominal muscle. Provides core stability through intra-abdominal pressure. Fascicles are horizontal in upper region with increasing inferomedial orientation in middle and lower regions. First muscle active during unexpected ventral loading.

Anatomy
- Origin
- Lateral third of inguinal ligament, iliac crest, thoracolumbar fascia, costal cartilages of ribs 7-12
- Insertion
- Linea alba, pubic crest, conjoint tendon; vertical dimension attaching to lumbar spine via thoracolumbar fascia averages 5.2 cm
- Action
- Increases intra-abdominal pressure, trunk stabilization, compression of abdominal contents
- Innervation
- Thoracolumbar nerves (T6-L1), traveling within the transversus abdominis plane (TAP)
- Blood Supply
- Lower posterior intercostal arteries, subcostal artery, deep circumflex iliac artery, deep inferior epigastric artery
