📖 Static demo — read-only snapshot

You’re browsing a static build of the Body IQ knowledge graph, so everything loads with no backend. A few things that need the live server are turned off here:

  • Global search (sidebar) is disabled — it queries the API.
  • The JSON API and the API “Try it” playgroundaren’t included.
  • The data is a snapshot — it refreshes only when the demo is rebuilt, not live from the database.

Everything else — the body map, progression ladders, coverage heatmap, exercise finder, and all anatomy/exercise/source pages — works fully. The full app (live search + API + database) runs from the source on GitHub.

Positions & Range of Motion

Start
seated at a table with a mirror positioned in the midline, the unaffected hand in front of the mirror and the affected hand hidden behind it, gaze on the mirror reflection
End
identifying textures, shapes, and touch location (stereognosis/locognosia) with the affected hand while watching the reflected unaffected hand, progressing eyes-open to eyes-closed
Range of Motion
isometric/perceptual sensory task — minimal joint excursion; light hand and finger movements only

How to Perform

Phase 1 (early re-innervation): texture and shape identification with eyes open, then closed. Phase 2 (after 2-point discrimination returns): stereognosis and locognosia. Mirror therapy enhances cortical activation.

Coaching Cues

  1. 1

Calm, focused attention — sensory cortex recalibrates

    (verbal)
  2. 2

Watch the mirror image of the unaffected hand moving

    (verbal)
  3. 3

Identify each texture by touch with eyes closed

    (verbal)
  4. 4

Reflected hand belongs to the affected side

    (visual)

Evidence-Based Dosing & EMG Data

Recommended Dosing

Classical SRE: 5–10 min × 4×/day. Mirror therapy + SRE: 12 weeks, frequency per protocol.

EMG Activation Data

Not muscle-specific. Mirror therapy + SRE has moderate evidence for dexterity and functional outcomes [Xia 2021; Chen 2022].

Easier Variations ↓

1

Large Distinct Objects

Eyes open, unambiguous textures.

Harder Variations ↑

1

Small Similar Objects

Eyes closed, subtle texture distinctions.
