Foam Pad Balance with Sensory Perturbation
Positions & Range of Motion
- Start
- standing on a compliant foam surface in a Romberg stance (feet together), eyes open, near a wall or counter for safety
- End
- steady upright stance held while progressing the challenge — eyes closed or busy visual background, and narrowing base from Romberg to tandem to single-leg
- Range of Motion
- isometric stance — minimal joint excursion; postural-sway control at the ankle/hip
How to Perform
Stand on a compliant foam surface and progressively manipulate visual input (eyes open → eyes closed → busy visual background) and base of support (Romberg → tandem → single-leg). Trains the somatosensory-vestibular-visual balance system.
