Ankle Eversion/Inversion Strengthening
Positions & Range of Motion
- Start
- seated with the leg extended and the shin stabilized, resistance band anchored laterally for eversion or medially for inversion, foot in neutral
- End
- eversion — sole swept outward (little-toe side up) to end range; inversion — sole swept inward (big-toe side up) to end range, against the band
- Range of Motion
- subtalar/ankle eversion 0→~15–20° and inversion 0→~20–30°, isolated at the ankle
How to Perform
Targeted strengthening of ankle evertors (peroneus longus) and invertors (tibialis anterior/posterior) with resistance band. Band is anchored laterally for eversion, medially for inversion. Prevents recurrent ankle sprains and chronic instability by targeting lateral ankle stabilizers.

AUDIT: Progress from seated open-chain resisted eversion/inversion to reactive single-leg balance on foam/unstable surface.
