Schroth-Based Three-Dimensional Exercises
Positions & Range of Motion
- Start
- standing tall with long spine, lifted breastbone, soft jaw, crown of head reaching toward the ceiling
- End
- sustained three-dimensionally corrected posture — spine elongated, trunk deflected and derotated — while breathing into the concave/collapsed side of the ribcage
- Range of Motion
- active postural correction combining axial elongation, deflection and derotation with facilitated rib breathing; largely isometric with minimal gross joint excursion
How to Perform
Functional exercises addressing postural kyphosis through three-dimensional corrective movements. Combines elongation, deflection, derotation, and facilitated breathing. Demonstrates large effect sizes for improving thoracic kyphosis (mean reduction of 14.76°), lumbar lordosis, balance, and quality of life.

Schroth with Resistance
Perform corrective postures while holding light resistance. Increases muscular endurance demand.
Functional Integration
Maintain Schroth corrections during daily activities — sitting, standing, walking. Transfers postural gains to real-world use.
