📖 Static demo — read-only snapshot

You’re browsing a static build of the Body IQ knowledge graph, so everything loads with no backend. A few things that need the live server are turned off here:

  • Global search (sidebar) is disabled — it queries the API.
  • The JSON API and the API “Try it” playgroundaren’t included.
  • The data is a snapshot — it refreshes only when the demo is rebuilt, not live from the database.

Everything else — the body map, progression ladders, coverage heatmap, exercise finder, and all anatomy/exercise/source pages — works fully. The full app (live search + API + database) runs from the source on GitHub.

Thumb Opposition

First Carpometacarpal Joint • Hand

Draft80%

Complex movement bringing the thumb pad to contact the finger pads. Combines flexion, abduction, and medial rotation.

Normal Range of Motion

Opposition is a composite motion not measured with a goniometer. Standard clinical recording: full opposition = pad of thumb touches the pad or base of the fifth finger; deficits are recorded as the ruler distance (cm) from the thumb tip (or IP crease) to the fifth MCP joint or distal palmar crease, with 0 cm considered normal. The Kapandji score (0-10, where 10 = thumb tip to distal palmar crease) is an alternative published scale.
