📖 Static demo — read-only snapshot

You’re browsing a static build of the Body IQ knowledge graph, so everything loads with no backend. A few things that need the live server are turned off here:

  • Global search (sidebar) is disabled — it queries the API.
  • The JSON API and the API “Try it” playgroundaren’t included.
  • The data is a snapshot — it refreshes only when the demo is rebuilt, not live from the database.

Everything else — the body map, progression ladders, coverage heatmap, exercise finder, and all anatomy/exercise/source pages — works fully. The full app (live search + API + database) runs from the source on GitHub.

Positions & Range of Motion

Start
seated, forearm supported, wrist neutral and quiet, therapy putty held in the hand with thumb positioned to press or squeeze
End
thumb pad pressed into the putty against each fingertip and putty squeezed into a ball, working opposition, abduction, adduction, and pinch under resistance
Range of Motion
full thumb opposition/abduction/adduction and pinch excursion against putty resistance across the program tasks

How to Perform

Therapy putty program targeting thumb opposition, abduction, adduction, and pinch strength. Ottawa Panel: 46 grade A recommendations for ROM + isotonic + isometric + functional exercise. Hand exercises reduce short-term pain (SMD -5.0) and improve grip strength (21 lbs). Minimum 12 weeks for sustained benefit.

Research Notes

AUDIT[high]: Rated evidenceLevel 'strong' and cites specific effect sizes (SMD -5.0 pain, +21 lbs grip, Ottawa Panel 46 grade-A recommendations) attributed in-text to Brosseau 2018 / Thakker 2025 / Lamb 2015, but the linked sources array contains only Kisner 2017 and ACSM 2021 — none of the primary evidence backing the 'strong' rating is actually linked. → Add Brosseau 2018, Thakker 2025, and Lamb 2015 to the sources array, or downgrade the evidenceLevel to match the linked textbook-only sources.
