supine on a foam roller placed horizontally at mid-thoracic level, knees bent, feet flat, arms crossed over chest or overhead, head supported
End
chest draped open in segmental thoracic extension over the roller, ribs kept from flaring, then roller repositioned one segment higher
Range of Motion
segmental thoracic extension over the roller, progressing one vertebral segment at a time up the mid/upper thoracic spine

How to Perform

Supine on foam roller at mid-thoracic level, arms crossed or overhead, extending segmentally over roller. Large positive ROM effects (SMD 0.74). Foam rolling >4 weeks is more effective than ≤4 weeks. Mechanical massage significantly improves thoracic extension and reduces kyphosis angle.
