📖 Static demo — read-only snapshot
You’re browsing a static build of the Body IQ knowledge graph, so everything loads with no backend. A few things that need the live server are turned off here:
- Global search (sidebar) is disabled — it queries the API.
- The JSON API and the API “Try it” playgroundaren’t included.
- The data is a snapshot — it refreshes only when the demo is rebuilt, not live from the database.
Everything else — the body map, progression ladders, coverage heatmap, exercise finder, and all anatomy/exercise/source pages — works fully. The full app (live search + API + database) runs from the source on GitHub.
Power Clean (Hang Variation)
Positions & Range of Motion
- Start
- standing, barbell held in the hang position at mid-thigh, hips hinged back, chest over the bar, neutral spine, shoulders slightly ahead of the bar
- End
- explosive triple extension to fully tall (ankles, knees, hips extended) with the bar caught in the front-rack across the shoulders, elbows high
- Range of Motion
- large dynamic excursion from mid-thigh hang through full hip/knee/ankle extension, then re-flexion to receive the bar in a front-rack partial squat
How to Perform
Explosive triple extension (ankle, knee, hip) pulling a barbell from hang position. Produces greatest rate of force development (17,254 N/s) compared to CMJ (3,836 N/s) and jump squat (3,517 N/s). Higher EMG in BF, gastroc, VL, and glute max. Requires technical proficiency in hang pulls and front squats.

Evidence-Based Dosing & EMG Data
3-5×2-5 reps at 70-90% 1RM, 2-3x/week. Heavier loads (≥70% 1RM) optimize peak power [Soriano 2015]
RFD 17,254 N/s (vs CMJ 3,836 N/s). Peak power 3,566W, peak force 2,814N at 60% 1RM [Comfort 2011, MacKenzie 2014]

Easier Variations ↓
Hang High Pull
Pull to chest level without catching. Builds explosive pattern.
Kettlebell Clean
Single-arm clean with KB. Simpler catch mechanics.
Harder Variations ↑
