📖 Static demo — read-only snapshot
You’re browsing a static build of the Body IQ knowledge graph, so everything loads with no backend. A few things that need the live server are turned off here:
- Global search (sidebar) is disabled — it queries the API.
- The JSON API and the API “Try it” playgroundaren’t included.
- The data is a snapshot — it refreshes only when the demo is rebuilt, not live from the database.
Everything else — the body map, progression ladders, coverage heatmap, exercise finder, and all anatomy/exercise/source pages — works fully. The full app (live search + API + database) runs from the source on GitHub.
Iliopsoas
Combined iliacus and psoas major. Primary hip flexor. Psoas tendon inserts separately from iliacus into a crest on the lesser trochanter. In anatomical position, produces hip flexion without rotational component; with hip abducted, produces flexion, adduction, and lateral rotation.

- Iliacus: iliac fossa, anterior sacroiliac ligament; Psoas major: transverse processes, vertebral bodies, and intervertebral discs of T12-L5
- Insertion
- Lesser trochanter of femur; psoas tendon inserts separately from iliacus into crest running from superior to anterior aspect of lesser trochanter
- Action
- Hip flexion (primary); psoas also assists lumbar spine flexion; iliacus can selectively stabilize pelvis during contralateral hip extension
- Innervation
- Iliacus: femoral nerve (L2-L4); Psoas: ventral rami L1-L4, with L2-L3 branches most robust; nerve branches commonly cross L2-3, L3-4, L4-5 discs obliquely
